The Floorstander That Makes Everything Sound Good
The Emotiva Airmotiv XT1 isn’t the prettiest, most detailed, or most refined floorstanding speaker I’ve had through the studio, but at just $699 USD a pair (on sale), it might be one of the easiest to enjoy. With real bass depth, a big soundstage, a forgiving top end and a slim, shallow cabinet that’s incredibly easy to place, the XT1 simply makes everything sound good. I put it up against the Monitor Audio Bronze 300 7G and Polk Reserve R500, tried it with everything from Wu-Tang Clan and Charli XCX to Marcus Intalex and Maria Somerville, and eventually dropped it into my home theatre system. Sometimes you don’t need a speaker that makes you analyze every detail. Sometimes you just want to listen.
